Subcategories not displaying correctly

Hi - since the last update (I assume), the subcategories have stopped displaying correctly on our site. When you enter the parent category, instead of showing the subcategories you end up seeing all of the categories, as though you'd just clicked on the main store page. The parent category header is still shown, but instead of showing the correct subcategories it shows all categories, and below that the products within the subcategories that should have been there... it's somewhat confusing.Here's a few examples - if you look at the left sidebar you can see the subcategories that should be displayed:
