Mobile vs. Desktop Version

Good afternoon,
Is there a way I can change the mobile site to be a little different than the desktop version, or will it always be a smaller version of the desktop website? For an example, we have an automatic slider going on the desktop version that I would like to be off on the mobile website. There are also widgets I would like to have on the desktop website and not the mobile. Is this possible to do within the template (and wordpress) without touching the coding?
