Missing connection between Facebook social share button and Facebook wall

When a post is liked on our site through the Facebook social button underneath a particular post, nothing really happens. There's a +1 displaying on the Facebook button but readers don't get any sign on their Facebook wall that they've like the post on our site. The Facebook API settings in the the theme options are all correct, so what can be the problem ?
