Bulk Edits losing layout changes

When we use bulk edit the current post template is lost and is set back to default.
This is how to replicate it:
Go to POSTS;
run search for "DATA";
select first two posts [Low latency by Heather McK' & Viewpoint by Mark Hemsley";
Choose "Edit" from The upper left option window [it shows "Bulk actions" by default];
hit "Apply" and change any parameter - and once it's changed the layout changes to 'default' (from right sidebar with 'Blog Right Sidebars - Publications sidebar').
