MailPoet Cause CPU outages

I have had my site suspended 3 times in the last 5 days due to my cpu seconds rocketing and taking me over my web hosts limits.
I have just discovered that the culprit was the MailPoet plugin bundled with the Goodstore theme. I have disable the plugin and everything returned to normal. The latest release is supposed to address this issue.
