Site Demo wont replace

Hi, so I installed the GDN theme on my wordpress site. Afterwards I was prompted to install the demo which I did. I created a new Header graphic which i uploaded through appearance/customize from the wordpress dashboard. But the graphic is appearing BEHIND the demo graphic...is it possible to edit the demo site as a template? Or do I need to remove the demo and edit some sort of blank template? If so, How do I remove the demo??????
