Fixed size on thumbnails

I want my thumbnails on the first site to be width 192 height 238. I have set this in Media settings. (See screen shot)
The size of the original picture is hight 950 width 768. So I want the thumbnails to be 1/4 of this size.
I have tried to use crop and without crop but the thumbs still look wierd and compressed. (See screenshot)
And generated new thumbs but still the same problem.
What do I have to do to get the exact size that I want so they dont look wierd and compressed?
