Language Translation and Child Themes

Its a good practice to have a child theme to overwrite things in goodstore, to grant update compatibility.But how is this achieved with translations?I have done the steps descriped here to get a german translation and it works.But it doesn't work to overwrite these files in my child theme? How to do that?
