Number of Widget menu areas

Hi!I need more than 4 widget menu areas for the main menu. How can I add them.I also don't understand what is the Column setting dor that widget areas. Let's say I set up 2 columns. How can I define what HTML is in which column? I was looking thru docs, never find any info about that :(with regards,Urban
